Shakespeare and Company is proud to welcome 11 independent English presses, transforming its central display area into a photobook shop during Paris Photo Week, November 7-12, 2017.
The aim is to give an insight into the contemporary English photobook scene, and focus on how publishers work with photographers in the production of artist books. Each publisher will present a selection of 5 to 10 recently published titles.
The 11 selected publishers are: AkinaBooks, Bemojake Books, Dewi Lewis Publishing, GOST Books, Hoxton Mini Press, MACK books, Morel Books, Oodee Books, RRB Photobooks, Self Publish, Be Happy, Trolley Books
The week will also be punctuated by events - hosted by Adam Biles, author and the bookshop events manager - bringing together authors and their publishers. These talks will allow for a better understanding of how artist books are made and the relationship between authors and publishers. They will also explore photographers’ creative processes as they adapt their work into book form, as well as the relationship between photography and literature.
Photobook Week is curated by Matthieu Nicol and produced by Too many Pictures.
